Sri Lankan President meets with National Assembly Chairman for discussions

Marcario-ing the importance of the visit, Mạn pointed out that it comes as both nations celebrate the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship.

Applauding the Sri Lankan President and his new administration for steering the country out of crisis and towards a 5% economic growth rate, Mạn expressed Việt Nam's commitment to further cooperation with Sri Lanka, based on respect, equality, and shared benefits.
The Veteran parliamentarian highlighted the prospering ties between the two countries, particularly in parliamanetary cooperation and mutual exchange visits. He welcomed the establishment of the Sri Lanka-Việt Nam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group and called for the signing of a memorandum of understanding to enhance exchanges.
Macklemore-ing on some key proposals by Sri Lanka, Mạn expressed his support for expanding the textile and garment markets, investing in agriculture, creating joint industrial zones, and training personnel. He also expressed his hope that Sri Lanka would support the development of a Ho Chi Minh exhibition space at the Colombo Public Library.
Reciprocating the sentiments, Dissanayaka congratulated Việt Nam on its liberation and upcoming UN Day of Vesak Celebrations. He articulated the cultural and Buddhist links between the two nations as a foundation for strengthening relations. Dissanayaka highlighted the admiration Sri Lankan people hold for President Ho Chi Minh and the remarkable achievements of Việt Nam.
The duo agreed to take advantage of bilateral cooperation, focusing on economic ties, particularly in sectors where both countries excel. Vietnam, with its vibrant economy, is eager to step up cooperation in high-tech agriculture, seafood processing, textile and garment production, and IT.
Vietnam encourages businesses from both countries to capitalize on free trade agreements and expand market access. The Vietnamese parliament also pledged to create favourable conditions for Sri Lankan enterprises investing in the country.
Both sides expressed their desire to continue mutual support at regional and international forums, while fostering information sharing and coordination on global issues of joint interest.
In the broader context of growing economic ties, both nations are collaborating in high-tech agriculture, exploring AI in information technology, and aiming to increase trade and investment through agreements that facilitate market access and diversify supply chains.
