Square Enixworker Yoshi-P, responsible for the development of Final Fantasy 14, confesses to receiving compensation for his duties, which he's keeping occupied with due to an abundance of tasks yet to be resolved.
In a recent interview with Noisy Pixel, Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida, the director of Final Fantasy 14, shared his thoughts on the popular MMORPG and its upcoming developments.
Yoshida, who considers himself more of a businessman than a creator, expressed his enthusiasm for the game, stating that there are unrealized aspects in Final Fantasy 14 that he wants to accomplish. He revealed that his primary purpose is to make games and deliver them to gamers.
One of the exciting announcements made by Yoshida was the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds crossover, set to be released with Patch 7.35 in early October 2025. This update will introduce new quests and the return of the popular Rathalos mount as a permanent addition. Yoshida assured players that the update will not alter the game for those who prefer the current style.
Yoshida also hinted at a forthcoming "big update" for Final Fantasy 14, aiming to highlight the uniqueness of each job in battle content. He mentioned that he won't be bored with Final Fantasy 14 as long as he gets paid, and he won't tire of the game until he feels he has done his job to the best of his ability.
However, Yoshida does not have a strong personal desire to pursue his own creative things. He believes that feeling bored with a project and claiming to dislike it is not appropriate for someone working in a company. He receives money from Square Enix to make games, and he is committed to delivering the best possible experience to the Final Fantasy 14 community.
The interview included translated English captions, allowing a wide audience to understand Yoshida's insights into the game's development and future plans. With the Monster Hunter Wilds crossover and the upcoming "big update" on the horizon, fans of Final Fantasy 14 have much to look forward to.
