SpVgg maintains Fürth-Rescuer Kleine as their coach
Greuther Fürth Secures Second Division Survival, Announces Coach Thomas Kleine's Return
Thomas Kleine, a 47-year-old football coach, will continue his tenure at Greuther Fürth, a Bundesliga 2 club, for the upcoming season. Alongside co-trainer Milorad Pekovic, Kleine will oversee the team, as confirmed by the club.
Sporting director Stephan Fürstner remarked, "Both coaches have demonstrated proficiency in navigating our team through a trying circumstance, and their value was evident even during the brief time they spent with us." He also hinted at modifications within the team, stating, "We anticipate a significant turnover in our squad."
The final two games of the 2024/25 season saw Kleine and Pekovic stepping in at short notice. Their efforts yielded four points for the team, with a draw against Hannover 96 and a home triumph over promoted Hamburg. These results ensured Fürth's position in the league as the 13th team, preserving their spot in Bundesliga 2.
Following the departure of Jan Siewert, Kleine and Pekovic took the reins from interim coach Leonhard Haas in November. Their stewardship helped the team eliminate an eight-match winless streak, a crucial factor in Fürth's survival bid.
Thomas Kleine and Milorad Pekovic, the coaches credited with securing Greuther Fürth's survival in Bundesliga 2, will continue to guide the team in the upcoming season. With their expertise in European-leagues football, they are expected to lead the significant squad modifications aimed at maintaining Fürth's position in the league.
