The Champions League 2025-26 season has kicked off, and one of the highly anticipated matches is between Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday, 16 September. The match will start at 8pm UK time.

Manor Solomon, an Israeli winger previously with Tottenham Hotspur, is currently on a season-long loan with Villarreal. Solomon excelled in the Championship last term while on loan at another club, and he has yet to make his debut for his current team.

According to UEFA rules, a loan player is eligible to face their parent club in European competition, provided the loan agreement doesn't include a clause preventing it and the host club has the player registered and cleared to play. In this case, Solomon's inclusion in Villarreal's 'List A' squad for the Champions League suggests that he may be available to play against his former team.

Tottenham's league phase draw in the Champions League includes matches against Villarreal, Bodo/Glimt, AS Monaco, FC Copenhagen, Paris Saint-Germain, Slavia Prague, Borussia Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt. The matches against Bodo/Glimt (away), AS Monaco (away), FC Copenhagen (home), Paris Saint-Germain (away), Slavia Prague (home), Borussia Dortmund (home), and Eintracht Frankfurt (away) will take place on their respective dates as listed.

Thomas Partey, a former Arsenal midfielder, is also part of Villarreal's Champions League squad. Ange Postecoglou led Tottenham to Europa League victory at the end of the 2024-25 season, and Thomas Frank is making his managerial debut in the Champions League for Tottenham Hotspur.

Whether Solomon will make his Villarreal debut against his former club remains to be seen. Solomon was an unused substitute in Villarreal's match against Atletico Madrid, hinting that he may not have been fully integrated into the team yet. Nevertheless, the prospect of Solomon facing Tottenham in the Champions League adds an extra layer of intrigue to an already exciting match.
