In the thrilling world of football, the Champions League 2025-26 season has kicked off, and Tottenham Hotspur is ready to make its mark. The North London club's league phase draw includes some tough challenges, with matches against Villarreal, Bodo/Glimt, AS Monaco, FC Copenhagen, Paris Saint-Germain, Slavia Prague, Borussia Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt.

One of the early highlights is the home game against Villarreal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday, 16 September, with a kick-off time of 8pm UK time. This match holds a unique twist, as Manor Solomon, a winger who excelled in the Championship last term while on loan from Leeds United, is currently on a season-long loan with Villarreal.

Despite being a Tottenham player, Solomon's eligibility to face his parent club in the Champions League is determined by UEFA rules. According to these rules, a loan player can face their parent club in European competition if the loan agreement doesn't include a clause preventing it and the host club has the player registered and cleared to play. Solomon, previously on loan from Tottenham, is included in Villarreal's 'List A' squad for the Champions League.

Interestingly, Thomas Partey, a former Arsenal midfielder, is also part of Villarreal's 'List A' squad for the Champions League.

For Tottenham, new manager Thomas Frank is making his managerial debut in the Champions League. The players who could feature for Spurs in this match include Guglielmo Vicario, Kevin Danso, Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons, Richarlison, Destiny Udogie, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke, Mohammed Kudus, Brennan Johnson, Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, Wilson Odobert, Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, Antonin Kinsky, Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven, Randal Kolo Muani, and Brandon Austin.

Solomon, however, has yet to make his debut for Villarreal. He was an unused substitute in Villarreal's match against Atletico Madrid. As for his potential debut against Tottenham, his impressive performance in the Championship last term suggests he could be a key player for Villarreal in this highly anticipated match.

The match between Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal promises to be an exciting one, with both teams eager to start their Champions League campaign on a high note. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if Manor Solomon will make his debut for Villarreal against his parent club Tottenham Hotspur.
