Trouble for Spurs as Kulusevski Faces Long Recovery

In a blow to Tottenham's Europa League final preparations, Dejan Kulusevski is expected to be out for the long haul. The Swedish star was forced to undergo knee surgery after an injury suffered in a match against Crystal Palace. Coach Ange Postecoglou revealed the bad news, stating they initially thought the injury wasn't too severe, but a structural issue emerged post-match.

"We were worried about Kulu's knee, and it got worse the day after the match. He's undergone surgery and is looking at a few months on the sidelines," Postecoglou said[1][4]. The surgery, performed on his right knee, could sideline Kulusevski for at least half of next season, making a potential return for the 2025/26 season uncertain[3][4].

The Medical team at Tottenham is already working with Kulusevski on his rehabilitation[3]. As Kulusevski's absence leaves a gaping hole in the Spurs lineup, fellow teammates James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall will also miss the final due to injuries[5].

However, there's some positive news for Spurs with captain Son Heung-min edging closer to a return from his foot injury. Son, who was sidelined for seven matches before coming on as a substitute against Palace, is slated to feature in the upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa[5].

"Sonny will definitely play tomorrow. Whether he starts or not, remains to be seen, but he reacted well to playing the other day and has no issues with his foot. He's trained well, and this match should provide him with additional match minutes before the final," added Postecoglou[5].
