Spurs Eyeing Acquisition of Star Player from Local Rivals, Claims Report
Tottenham Hotspur Eyeing Crystal Palace Defender Maxence Lacroix
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix as a potential signing for their defensive reinforcements, according to various sources.
The French defender, who turns 25 this year, has been impressive for Palace and has been valued at €25m by Transfermarkt. His strong performances have caught the attention of several European clubs, including German side Borussia Dortmund and several Italian teams, in addition to Tottenham.
However, as of the latest information available, Tottenham Hotspur appear to be the only Premier League club mentioned in connection to Lacroix's potential transfer. This is despite Palace's reputation for being determined in sales negotiations, as demonstrated last year when they kept Marc Guehi for another year despite Newcastle United's interest.
Tottenham Hotspur's interest in Lacroix comes at an opportune time, as they have recently qualified for the Champions League due to their performance in the Europa League. The team clinched the title with a goal from Brennan Johnson in the final.
Thomas Frank is currently at the helm of Tottenham Hotspur, having replaced Ange Postecoglou. The team has already recruited Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United and may be looking to bolster their defense further with the addition of Lacroix.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham Hotspur will be able to secure a deal for Lacroix, but one thing is certain: his top-level performances have made him a coveted asset in the transfer market. Eberechi Eze, another Palace player, is also receiving top-level interest, so it seems that Palace's FA Cup-winning side may not be sold on the cheap.
