Spurs axe coach despite Europa League victory success

Like a phoenix rising, Tottenham Hotspur snatched the Europa League title from the claws of Manchester United, but the euphoria was short-lived. Ange Postecoglou, the mastermind behind the victory, found himself caught in the crossfire, ousted by the club just two weeks after the triumphant triumph.

In a bold move, the Tottenham Hotspur management declared that they had unanimously decided a change was for the best interest of the club. A saddening farewell note on their official website read, "Ange will always be remembered as the third coach in our history to win a European title."

The Australian tactician led Tottenham to a much-coveted title after a 17-year wait. However, his domestic record was less than stellar as the team plummeted to a 17th-place finish in the Premier League, mere points above the relegation zone. Yet, his strategic brilliance in the Europa League final, where Spurs thrashed their rivals by a 1-0 margin, couldn't shield him from the club's wrath.

But it wasn't just the poor league performance that sealed Postecoglou's fate. The 2021-22 Premier League season was the worst in the club's history, with 22 defeats in 38 games. Remarkably, the team still qualified for the Champions League thanks to their Europa League triumph.

When asked about his future, the 59-year-old coach expressed his desire to stay put. Alas, there seems to be no room for him at the North London club anymore.

In other football news, Tottenham's troubles seem to be mounting. Timo Werner, a German national, will no longer be donning the Spurs jersey. The club declined to exercise their option to buy him, and his former club, Rasenballsport Leipzig, have no desire to welcome him back with open arms. As things stand, Werner's future could be in the USA. Leipzig could compromise on the transfer fee to offload him from their books. His contract with the Saxons extends until 2026, while he spent the second half of the 2023-24 season at Tottenham on loan.

Following the Europa League triumph, Tottenham Hotspur's management implemented a shift in their employment policy, terminating the contract of Coach Ange Postecoglou, despite his European-leagues success. Meanwhile, Timo Werner's future seems uncertain as both Rasenballsport Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspur have decided not to pursue employment with him, possibly opening up opportunities in the United States.
