Sibling Rivalry at its Peak on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"
A showdown between police officers Andreas and Felix Groß goes down on RTL
Spurring a sibling rivalry among police forces, as per the report.
In the recent special edition of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?", viewers witnessed a tense showdown between brothers, Andreas and Felix Groß, both police officers. The sibling rivalry between these two had been a long-standing issue, reaching new heights when Felix won 32,000 euros on the show a year and a half ago.
The surprise special was initially set for the following Monday, but Andreas' mother and friends couldn't contain their excitement any longer. They begged the host, Günther Jauch, to finally settle the competition once and for all.
Time to End the Feud
"Drama, drama," the brother's mother described the decades-long rivalry between her sons. When Felix won a substantial amount on the show, it fueled Andreas' desire for revenge. The competition became clear when Andreas criticized his brother, who is a police spokesperson, saying, "He's not a real policeman."
At the start of the show, it seemed like it was business as usual. However, Jauch suddenly announced that Andreas had been secretly nominated by his brother, shocking the audience. The air was thick with tension as Jauch asked the brothers questions repeatedly, with Andreas largely getting the answers wrong.
The Final Showdown
Andreas managed to catch up with his brother when he correctly answered two questions in the 32,000-euro round. But the true test came when Jauch called for 64,000 euros: "In the election of the tree of the year 2025, attention was drawn to the toxicity of what: raw sweet almonds, early harvested peanuts, dried raisins, unpeeled cashew nuts?" The brother in the audience leaned towards sweet almonds, like his brother, and the lifeline. A biotech researcher who had emigrated to Sweden laid down his veto as an additional lifeline. Because he could rule out all answer options except the cashew nuts.
Andreas hesitated and struggled with the decision. In the end, he trusted the calmly arguing lifeline, doubling his brother's winnings. The 35-year-old had answered 11 questions correct, just like his two years younger brother at Jauch.
Unfortunately, not every contestant was as lucky as the brothers. Sophia Schubert, who made it onto the hot seat as the sixth and final contestant, was eliminated on the second question. The show had started off promisingly with Serdar Isbara from Hamburg who secured the hot seat with a selection question about Formula 1. However, he fell to the safety level in the Zocker Special due to Pope Francis.
The season of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" will kick off with a big surprise special next Monday, followed by the next season of "Farmer Wants a Wife." The show will take an early summer break afterwards.
