Stoic yet teary-eyed, Himanshi Narwal, wife of slain Naval officer Lt. Vinay Narwal, pleaded for unity and peace during a moving tribute held in Karnal, his hometown, this past Thursday. Lt. The newlyweds were enjoying their honeymoon in the picturesque town of Pahalgam when Lt. Narwal, standing at 26, was ruthlessly gunned down by terrorists.
At the blood donation camp, a grieving Ms. Himanshi laid floral tributes and blew a tender kiss to her late husband's photograph. She was joined by Narwal's mother, who also offered her respects.
Narwal's sister, Shristi, thanked the generous donors attending the camp and expressed gratitude to those who had sent messages of support. "Many people have traveled far to participate in this event, and the government has also played a significant role," she said.
Speakers at the gathering remembered Lt. Narwal as a dedicated servant to his nation and shared that his spirit would forever reside in the hearts of all. Pritpal Singh Pannu, Chairperson of NIFAA, highlighted that although terrorism had claimed a life meant to serve the country, the donated blood collected at the camp aimed to save countless lives in Lt. Narwal's honor.
"It's unfortunate that we are donating blood in memory of someone who lost his life defending our nation," one attendee explained. "We can only offer him our tribute in this way, but his loss cannot be replaced." BJP MLA Jagmohan Anand was among those present to pay their respects.
The terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 took the lives of 26 victims, mostly tourists, and marked one of the deadliest incidents against civilians in recent years in Kashmir.
