Sports Updates: Bulls and Trojans Score Victories; HI-PAL Organizing a Swimming Event Locally

The Hawaii Masters Swimming organization, in collaboration with the County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation Aquatics Division and USA Swimming, is hosting the first Kawamoto Classic swim event on September 27. The event, which will take place at the Charles "Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium in Hilo, Hawaii, is open to keiki ages 8 to 17 and is free to attend. Activities at the event include water polo demonstrations, diving instruction, and swimming techniques.

In addition to the Kawamoto Classic Swimming Event, the local sports scene is heating up with some exciting match-ups in the volleyball world. The Parker girls volleyball team remains undefeated, having swept over the Honoka'a Lady Dragons in their latest match. The next challenge for Parker is a match against local rival Hawaii Prep on Friday night. Hawaii Prep currently stands at 5-1 in the standings, making for an exciting showdown.

Meanwhile, the Ka'u team improved to 3-4 overall with a sweep over the hosting Laupahoehoe Lady Seasiders. Unfortunately, Honoka'a fell to 2-5 and will face Makua Lani Christian Academy tonight. For those interested in attending or participating, registration opens at 8 a.m. on the day of the event, and a signed parent or guardian permission slip is required for all participants, with children under 12 needing to be accompanied by an adult.

For more information or to pre-register, contact Hilo Community Policing Lieutenant William Derr at [email protected]. Walk-in participants are welcome, and forms will be available on site. The Kawamoto Classic Swimming Event promises to be a fun and educational day for all who attend, so mark your calendars and get ready to dive in!
