Sports network Sky set to inaugural Premier League match with Multiview technology, vertical showcasing, and additional features

Sky Sports is set to revolutionise its coverage of the Premier League with a host of new features for the upcoming 2025/26 season. The broadcaster's chief sports officer, Jonathan Licht, announced these innovations, which include Multiview, supporter-driven player ratings, and fan-first interactive discussion shows.

Multiview: A Revolutionary Live Broadcast Format

The highlight of the new features is Multiview, a dynamic live broadcast format that allows viewers to watch multiple matches simultaneously on Sunday afternoons when four or more matches kick off at the same time due to fixture displacement. This innovative program cycles between games to showcase goals and key moments with dedicated commentary and analysis, while also letting fans watch each individual game separately on Sky Sports platforms and the app.

Supporter-driven Player Ratings

Another exciting addition is supporter-driven player ratings. This feature will enable fans to actively participate by rating players' performances during matches, offering a more interactive experience and direct fan engagement with the broadcast.

Fan-first Interactive Discussion Shows

Sky Sports will also feature fan-first interactive discussion shows, providing enhanced opportunities for fans to contribute opinions, interact with pundits and presenters, and engage in football discourse beyond traditional commentary.

Increased Live Premier League Match Coverage

Sky Sports' exclusive live Premier League match coverage increases substantially from 128 to at least 215 games per season, representing the biggest ever broadcast deal for the channel and covering more weekend, Friday, Monday, and midweek fixtures than any other broadcaster.

Other Notable Updates

  • The title track for this season’s coverage has been refreshed with a reworked version of "G.O.A.T" by Kasabian featuring Cristale.
  • The final day of the Premier League season will see all 10 matches broadcast live exclusively on Sky Sports for the first time.
  • Sky Sports has partnered with Fanalysis for supporter-driven player ratings, manager verdicts, and perspectives.
  • The new show, Super Sunday: Extra Time, will spotlight supporter views and pundit opinions.
  • Fans will also be able to replay the full match after the final whistle on Sky Glass and Sky Stream.

These innovations collectively aim to enhance the viewer experience by providing more coverage, greater interactivity, and multiple ways to watch and engage with Premier League football. The updates will also be coming to Sky Q soon, according to the broadcaster.

Sports fans can eagerly anticipate the premier-league season with Sky Sports' new Multiview feature, a dynamic live broadcast format that allows viewers to watch multiple matches simultaneously during fixture displacements. Additionally, supporter-driven player ratings enable fans to actively participate in the broadcast by rating players' performances, offering an interactive experience.
