Poropat is no stranger to the club, having made a mark as head coach from 2011 to 2021, with stints in between(1)(2). His very first season with MBC saw them winning promotion to the Bundesliga in the ProA. In the 2013/14 season, Poropat left his mark by guiding the team to 9th place in the table and being crowned "Trainer of the Year." Upon his departure in December 2015, he re-joined the team in January 2019, successfully securing the team's survival, and made a comeback again in February 2020 during the challenging 2020/21 season(3).
Starting early August, Poropat, now with an unlimited contract, will start his duties in Weißenfels. He will join the team at the annual training camp in Zrece, Slovenia, and gradually take over Geissler's responsibilities by the end of the year.
