Football enthusiasts, rejoice! Moderator Laura Wontorra is making a spectacular sports comeback as she gears up to cover the games of the German national football team for TV station RTL.
This reunion is no ordinary homecoming for Wontorra, who's been a beloved face of RTL for years. As the station announced, she will be covering the World Cup qualifiers, alternating with Florian König.
Wontorra shares her excitement about returning to sports broadcasting at RTL, especially for the national team. "Being part of the team's journey to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico is a dream come true," she said in a statement. "Working alongside experienced talents like Florian König, Wolff Fuss, Lothar Matthäus, and Knut Fleischmann is an opportunity I'm thrilled about."
RTL's sports director Frank Robens acknowledges Wontorra's ability to blend expertise, energy, and humor, calling it "an absolute asset." "Her versatility is her secret weapon," he added.
Wontorra started her journalism career at Sky Deutschland in 2011, moved on to Sport1, and joined RTL in 2016. Since then, she's been a presenter on "Ninja Warrior Germany." In 2017, she handled football coverage for RTL and NITRO, presenting shows like "100% Bundesliga," and broadcasts of the German national team and UEFA Europa League [1][2].
After a stint at DAZN, Wontorra returned to RTL Deutschland, hosting shows such as "Grill den Henssler" and "Deutschland sucht den Superstar." Now, she's returning to RTL in sports broadcasting [1][2].
