RTL's Autumn Sports Offensive Kicks Off with XXL Sports Day and EuroBasket 2025 Coverage

RTL, Germany's leading broadcasting network, is gearing up for an action-packed autumn with a major sports offensive. Sports has become a central pillar of RTL's strategy, reaching audiences that no longer tune in daily to free TV.

The highlight of RTL's sports program is the "XXL Sports Day" on Sunday, September 7. This wall-to-wall sports schedule includes Bundesliga, NFL, EuroBasket, Oktagon MMA, and Formula 1. The football coverage peaks with prime-time games at 20:45 and NFL games returning late night around 23:40, keeping continuous sports action available for fans.

The German national team's EuroBasket 2025 journey begins on August 27. RTL will broadcast all German national team matches, including the crucial opener against Montenegro at 15:30, knockout rounds, and the final on September 14. Coverage spans RTL and its sister channel NITRO, providing comprehensive viewing of Germany’s EuroBasket journey.

After Bundesliga matches conclude in the evening, RTL returns with live NFL broadcasts around 23:40, ensuring sports fans don’t miss a moment of American football excitement throughout autumn.

Max Kruse, a 14-time international, has joined the RTL team as a TV expert. He will provide honest insights for fans, bringing his experience and taking clear positions while switching sides for the first time to accompany the game from a new perspective.

On "XXL Sports Day", RTL will broadcast the football international in the World Cup qualifiers against Northern Ireland. The network will also look back at the round of 16 of the European Basketball Championship and broadcast all games of the German team live on free TV. Moderator Jan Stecker will lead the pre-game show with experts Patrick Esume and Björn Werner before the game of the Las Vegas Raiders against the New England Patriots is broadcast. The extended pre-match coverage for the football international will present other sports formats that RTL has in its September program.

RTL will broadcast the NFL game live from the San Francisco 49ers against the Seattle Seahawks on September 7, starting around 11:40 PM, with a pre-show on NITRO from 6:15 PM titled "NFL LIVE - Guten Abend Football".

RTL has successfully established itself in the sports area for 40 years. Inga Leschek, the Chief Content Officer of RTL Germany, is leading this sports offensive, ensuring that RTL remains a major hub for live, prime European and international sports.

Sport analysis on RTL will delve into football and basketball, featuring insights from expert Max Kruse during the broadcast of XXL Sports Day, where viewers can watch live games of Bundesliga, EuroBasket, and NFL, including the German national team's EuroBasket 2025 journey and the prime-time football international against Northern Ireland. Additionally, RTL's sports-analysis segment will cover the round of 16 of the European Basketball Championship, football World Cup qualifiers, and American football matches like the San Francisco 49ers versus the Seattle Seahawks.
