Sports complex "Am Eisenbrand" undergoes artificial turf replacement
The Eisenbrand sports facility in the district of Büderich, Meerbusch, is undergoing a significant transformation as renovation work on its artificial turf field commences. The city administration has allocated a total budget of 600,000 euros for this project.
The current artificial turf field, which was installed in 2006, has worn out over the years due to intensive use. The playing properties, such as ball behaviour and ball control, were not suitable for activities like football and hockey. As a result, the city administration recommended the exchange of the artificial turf to the politicians.
The renovation involves the creation of a new elastic base layer on 7,500 square meters. After the base layer is complete, a new artificial turf will be installed. The existing artificial turf system is being dismantled and recycled to minimise environmental impact.
The new surface will be suitable for both football and hockey. For hockey, a water-filled field, which is now standard on hockey fields, is required. This renovation will enable higher-level hockey games, selection games, or corresponding training measures to be held on the field in the future.
The renovated artificial turf field at the Eisenbrand sports facility is expected to provide a better playing experience for athletes and spectators alike. The facility will continue to serve as a valuable resource for sports enthusiasts in the Meerbusch area.
