Sports Betting Licenses Set for Release in Missouri; Circa, DraftKings, and FanDuel Set to Contend
Missouri is set to join the growing list of states offering legal sports betting, with the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) already making decisions for two untethered mobile sports betting licenses and setting deadlines for the remaining tethered licenses.
On August 13, 2025, DraftKings, Circa, and other applicants will present their cases to the MGC for untethered mobile sports betting licenses. The commission announced its decision for the two untethered licenses on August 15, 2025, selecting DraftKings and Circa as the recipients.
For the remaining tethered retail and mobile sports betting licenses, the MGC has set the application deadline for September 12, 2025. These licenses are linked to casinos or professional sports teams, and operators must submit by this deadline to participate in the launch scheduled for December 1, 2025.
The next important decision-related date for mobile sports betting license holders after the August 15 decision is post-September 12, 2025, when the MGC will review tethered license applications.
In addition to the mobile sports betting licenses, the MGC is also accepting applications for sports wagering supplier licenses. Companies such as Catalist, GLI, GeoComply, OpticOdds, Sportradar, and SportsContentCo have expressed interest in obtaining these licenses.
The sports betting application window opened on May 15, 2025, and sports wagering supplier license applications are due to qualify for a temporary license before December 1, 2025.
With the launch of legal sports betting in Missouri on December 1, 2025, residents and visitors will be able to place bets on a variety of sports events, including the Kansas City Chiefs' regular-season games and the St. Louis Blues' home matches.

It is worth noting that Missouri voters approved legal sports betting statewide on November 5, 2024. However, the launch of sports betting was delayed due to the Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins' rejection of the commission's proposed emergency sports wagering rules, which would have launched sports betting as early as June 2025.
As the deadline for tethered license applications approaches, the MGC is expected to make further announcements regarding the review process and the decision-making timeline for these licenses. Stay tuned for more updates on the development of sports betting in Missouri.
