Sport-describing Females
Revitalizing the Game: Panter Foundation's Empowering Initiative
While strides have been made, the realm of sports journalism remains predominantly male-dominated. A peek into the bustling newsrooms during major events like the Champions League finals reinforces the notion that sports is a male-dominated domain.
Not only do men fill the newsrooms, but they also take center stage in the coverage. Women's sports often languish in the shadows, receiving scant attention on sports pages and online platforms, underscoring the need for change.
Enter Panter Foundation, who in 2018, spearheaded a groundbreaking initiative. They assembled a dynamic team of ten budding female journalists to create a sports newsroom and publish a supplement over four exhilarating days. Come 2025, they plan to scale up this endeavor parallel to the UEFA European Football Championship in July, opening the floor for fresh voices. Workshop articles will find their home on our website's special UEFA EURO pages, and we'll also feature participants' innovative ideas in podcasts.
Leveraging Digital and our Website House
From July 4th to 6th, we gather at our Website House in Berlin for an open dialogue and research. We dive deep into how other newsrooms integrate women's representation and share insights into our sports newsroom's unique workflow. Prior to the event, we build connections and exchange ideas digitally.
