Dive into the world of enhanced multitasking on Windows
Old-school multitasking on Windows remains a hit, but Microsoft has given it a modern twist with the revamped "Snap Layout" feature in Windows 11. No more squinting at two windows side by side; this updated feature makes split-screen multitasking a breeze.
Mastering Snap Layout

To make the most out of Snap Layout, get ready to hover that mouse cursor over the "Maximize" button of your window, revealing a grid of different layout options. What's best? You're not limited to just 2 or 4 windows. You can partition windows to create a neat 50-50, 75-25, 33-33-33, 50-25-25, or 25-50-25 split!
Once you've landed on the right spot, watch as your current window swoops into position. Now, your active apps will dance to fill the remaining spaces. Click on their thumbnails to automatically snap them into position.
Customize and Resize with Ease
Want a more tailored look? Dive into window resizing. Just hover over window borders, and with a deft drag, expand (or shrink) the windows to your liking. Need more precision? Click on the title bar and hold as you slide your window to the edge, waiting for the magical snap layout overlay.
Switching between Layouts with Shortcuts
Prefer keyboard shortcuts? No problem! Press the magical Windows + Z combo to display snap layout options and choose a layout number. Want to maneuver windows with more precision? Simply press another number, and voila, you're setting your windows in their ideal positions.
Advanced Snap Layout Method
Feeling experimental? Give the shadow method a whirl! Drag a window up towards the top of your screen. Wait until you spot the shadow, then continue past it to reveal all the snap layout options right before your eyes. Drop your window in just the right spot. Easy as (divided) pie!
Tips and Tricks
Get even more mileage out of Snap Layout by enabling the "Snap Windows" feature:
