Sizzling Summer Ahead: Germany Braces for Near-Perfect Heatwave

Splendid summer approach imminently foreseen.

Gear up, folks! With Corpus Christi holiday and the official start of summer on the horizon, prepare yourself for some scorching hot days ahead in Germany. Here's the lowdown on the forecast.

The Weather Ahead:

Bjoern Alexander, a meteorologist, predicts a near-perfect summer taking over the entire country after a few initial hiccups in the north. Expect warm, occasionally hot, and dry weather. Despite the heat, it should remain moderately stressful since the nights will cool off nicely, allowing for good ventilation. Don't forget to slather on some sunscreen, as peak UV values in the middle and south are around 7 to 8, translating to a high to very high risk of sunburn on Thursday.

No Rain in Sight:

Unfortunately, the rain outlook isn't great, which means the forest fire danger will continue to escalate over the coming days. Nationwide, danger levels could reach 3 to 5 by Sunday, with the highest levels observed from the Luneburg Heath to the east and parts of southern Germany.

Summer Beauty and the Beast:

As we welcome the start of summer this Saturday, get ready for temperatures between 18 to 22 degrees in the windy north, followed by sunny and summery weather with temperatures of 25 to 31 degrees in the south on Friday and Saturday. Coastal areas might stay fresher, with temperatures around 22 degrees in the sea breeze.

Holidays in the Heat:

The southwest of Europe is set to experience the hottest weather, with temperatures around 35 to 42 degrees. Paris and parts of France will also sizzle with extreme heat of up to 35 degrees. The heatwave is expected to creep into Germany by Sunday and Monday, with temperatures potentially reaching over 35 degrees in some regions.

Hotspots and Records:

The western regions, particularly the Rhine and its tributaries, are anticipated to experience peak temperatures of up to 38 degrees. Other areas are expected to reach temperatures of 30 degrees or more, while coastal regions might stay relatively cooler.

Though this phase could potentially break some station records, it is not expected to break the absolute German record of 39.6 degrees. Some weather models suggest that we may see heavy thunderstorms from the west as early as Monday and Tuesday, providing a much-needed cooling period and the opportunity to catch our breath.

So, grab your sunglasses, sunscreen, and hydration bottles, and get ready for the sizzling summer ahead! Keep an eye on the weather forecasts and stay safe during the heatwave.

The Commission has also been consulted on the following issues: the weather and weather-forecasting. The weather forecast predicts a sizzling summer in Germany, with the weather expected to be warm, occasionally hot, and dry throughout the country.
