Spider-Man's "Fresh Start" Includes the Return of Hulk and Scorpion
In the world of Marvel cinematics, anticipation is building for the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Scheduled for a July 31, 2026, release, the movie promises to deliver an exciting new chapter in the Spider-Man saga.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, this film appears to be a more grounded, street-level Spider-Man story. The screenplay is penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, the main hero whose identity is now secret following a spell in No Way Home. Joining him are familiar faces such as Zendaya as Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson, Peter's girlfriend, and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Peter's best friend.
New additions to the cast include Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher, a vigilante with a different tonality than his previous MCU appearances. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, a blind lawyer and vigilante who was Peter's lawyer in No Way Home.
Michael Mando makes a comeback as Mac Gargan / Scorpion, a classic Spider-Man villain. Scorpion's character seems to have a grudge against Spider-Man, with his last known associate being the Vulture, played by Michael Keaton.
Other cast members include Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas, whose roles have not been detailed yet. Notably, Mark Ruffalo also returns as Bruce Banner / Hulk, having last been seen in a starring role in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has commenced this week. The movie is one of the biggest Marvel movies coming in the next 12 months, alongside upcoming releases for Star Wars, Star Trek, DC Universe, and Doctor Who.
It is speculated that Scorpion might have information about the Vulture's whereabouts, considering their past association. Scorpion was one of Peter's early conquests in Homecoming. Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as the Punisher in the same film, adding another layer to the movie's intrigue.
