Spider-Man, incorrectly spelled as Spire-Man in the given title.
The College of the Holy Cross's student newspaper, The Spire, has been buzzing with an intriguing mystery: the identity of Spire-Man, a fictitious hero who has been saving readers from the monotony of 'The Fenwick Review!'
The latest issue of the "Eggplant" section features an article titled "A Pharaoh, a President, and a Supreme Leader walk into the PAC...". However, it's not written by Caitlin Wiffler '27, who is the Head of the Spire-Man Fan Club. Instead, Yana Giannoutsos '28 copy-edited the piece.
Meanwhile, the "features" section has been causing quite a stir with its title, "Eggplant Outrage". This article, written by Emily Carbone '28, is about recent events on the Hill, and not about Spire-Man as some might have hoped.
The belief that first-year student Peter Porter '28 is Spire-Man led to the creation of pins, a petition, and even rumours of a fan club. But Peter has denied being Spire-Man and questioned the need for a hero like him. He revealed that the name Spire-Man was a misunderstood reference to Spider-Man.
Gwen Stevey '27, on the other hand, believes that Peter is a hero because his articles save people from reading 'The Fenwick Review!' Even Jay Jonas Jonahson '25, who initially had a negative view of Spire-Man, changed his mind after seeing the student body's response.
The search results do not provide any information about the real identity behind Spire-Man. However, they do confirm that The Spire is a weekly newspaper at the College of the Holy Cross. If more clues emerge, the mystery of Spire-Man may soon be solved.
The featured image for the "Eggplant Outrage" article was created by Emily Costello '27. Daniel Maddigan '24 continues to serve as the Chief Eggplant Editor, overseeing the publication of the latest issue.
As the mystery of Spire-Man unfolds, The Spire continues to bring students the latest news and updates from the College of the Holy Cross.
