Spending continues for Como 1907 in the summer transfer market with the addition of Alvaro Morata
Alvaro Morata Joins Como on Loan Deal with Obligation to Buy
Spanish international striker Alvaro Morata has joined Como for the 2025-26 season on an initial season-long loan from AC Milan, with an obligation for Como to complete a permanent transfer next summer for €9 million.
The 32-year-old Morata, who has 86 caps and 37 goals for the Spanish national team, expressed enthusiasm about joining Como and praised the club's ambition. He promised to give his full effort in training and matches.
The move comes after Morata's loan at Galatasaray was cut short, despite originally being scheduled to last until January 2026. Morata criticized Galatasaray for not honoring contractual commitments, which contributed to the early termination of his loan there.
Como is managed by Cesc Fàbregas during the 2025-26 season, making this a notable reunion between the Spanish former teammates at club level. Fàbregas has admired Morata's intelligence and the way he plays, and believes that his personality and intelligence can help Como throughout the season.
Morata has a wealth of experience in the Italian top-flight, having previously played for Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles. He has also played for Real Madrid, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and won two Champions Leagues, the Coppa Italia, and the Europa League in his career.
With 146 Serie A appearances, Morata has scored 40 goals and registered 28 assists. He is Como's 12th signing of the summer and the deal for him to join Como is a loan with an obligation to buy.
Morata's arrival at Como is a significant boost for the club, as they look to compete in the Serie A next season. With his goal-scoring ability and experience in the Italian top-flight, Morata is expected to play a key role in Como's campaign.
