Friday Night Fever: Poker Players Grind Away While the Rest of India Cheers TGIF

Seeing the chill vibes of #TGIF on social media last night, it seemed like a blissful Friday for Indians everywhere. But it was just another night of hard work for poker enthusiasts. Rise, eat, play, sleep - and repeat.

Spartan Poker brings a slew of thrilling poker tournaments each week, and last night's offering was no exception - the TGIF INR 7 Lakh GTD. With a buy-in of INR 2,200, a crowd of around 319 players jumped on this opportunity, aiming for a piece of the prize pool. While they barely managed to miss the guarantee, the final 27 players split the riches, with a minimum cash prize of INR 7,000 on the table.

In this competitive field, two players - 'Runner1' and 'bullzeye' - claimed the most substantial chunks of this prize pool. With the heads-up battle stretching for some time, both players eventually agreed to call it a deal, distributing the bulk of the prize money relatively evenly but giving Runner1 a slight edge.

Runner1 walked away with the top prize of INR 1,30,152, but they preferred to stay under the radar post-win. The winner's head-up partner, 'bullzeye', is none other than Siddhanth Kapoor - actor, DJ, entrepreneur, and an avid poker player. Yesterday turned out to be a lucky day for Siddhanth on online poker, as apart from his share in this chop on Spartan, he also agreed to a deal in the INR 1,650 'The Classic' on PokerStars India and finished Day 1B of the National Poker Championship on Adda52 with a formidable stack.

When our team chatted with Siddhanth Kapoor, he shared, "Last night's TGIF final table was one of the most challenging I've played in a long while, with some top-notch players in the mix. I was also up against some tough competition during the National Poker Championship. There's a player called 'vibaks' (Akshay Nasa) who played a brilliant game, pressuring me throughout and climbing from a low stack to being among the top contenders." Check out our exclusive interview with Kapoor for more insights into his poker journey here.

Last night's deal would have been a profitable one for both Kapoor and Runner1, considering the many skilled players participating in the tournament. One such contender was Zarvan Tumboli aka 'BolAuntyAuKya', who ended up in fourth place, pocketing INR 58,730. Sumit Sapra also made it to the money, scoring INR 10,500 as the 15th-place finisher.

The popularity of this new tournament is evident, and keeping up with the latest updates from the Indian poker world can be easily done through our website.
