Sparkasse Fulda donates €15,000 to 35 local clubs through Savings Lottery

Children must learn to swim—because swimming saves lives.

This makes the dedication of volunteer coaches and instructors in local clubs all the more vital. Recently, Dieter Vogt and Bernd Schüler of Sparkasse Fulda paid a visit to the indoor pool in Hünfeld.

The two bank representatives brought with them a substantial donation check, symbolically presenting it to the Hünfeld Swimming Club (SSV)—representing some 35 clubs in Hünfeld and the surrounding area that the bank has supported in recent weeks and months with €15,000 from its so-called PS-Lottery proceeds.

Katja Drewes-Kehr, Christiane Wendler, Marcus Diel, and Julia Schön from the SSV board gave the Sparkasse guests an informative look into the club's work. Its offerings cover a broad spectrum—from classic swimming lessons to recreational and competitive groups, as well as aqua fitness and prevention courses.

In spring 2025, the club underscored its commitment to child welfare by joining Safe Kids, an initiative of the Hessian Youth Sports Association.

The work of the Hünfeld Swimming Club, according to Dieter Vogt, exemplifies how invaluable volunteer structures are, especially at the local level: "The citizens who contribute here are true beacons in our community."

The time and effort they voluntarily invest in social causes, culture, sports, and education significantly enhance the quality of life—a standard that makes the Fulda district the envy of many other regions.

Through the PS-Lottery proceeds, Sparkasse Fulda can effectively support volunteer work year after year, acting on behalf of its customers, Vogt explained.

When customers participate in the bank's savings lottery, they purchase tickets for €6 each. Of that amount, €4.80 goes into the customer's savings account, while the remaining €1.20 funds the lottery. Twenty cents per ticket are then returned to the region as donations for charitable purposes.

As part of the lottery itself, there are 12 monthly draws per year, with top prizes of up to €100,000. In addition to the regular monthly wins, special draws offer valuable prizes such as trips or cars.

Each month, Sparkasse Fulda's customers participate with around 70,000 tickets—all united by the same goal: to save, to win, and to do good.
