Spanish team leaping towards potential podium finishes at the Championships

The 2025 Longines FEI Jumping European Championship in A Coruña, Spain, is underway, and the German team, a perennial powerhouse in European Championships, is making its presence felt. Comprising Marcus Ehning, Sophie Hinners, Christian Kukuk, Richard Vogel, and Hans-Dieter Dreher, the team is poised for a strong showing.

The championship, spanning four days, features competitions for both teams and individuals. The schedule includes:

- Wednesday, 16 July: Checkpoint Trophy for individuals and teams, with jumps at 1.50m-1.55m. - Thursday, 17 July: Second competition for individuals and teams, with heights of 1.60m-1.65m. - Friday, 18 July: Second round of the team competition, followed by the team medal presentation. - Sunday, 20 July: Individual final with two rounds, culminating in the individual medal presentation.

While detailed results and standings are not yet available, the German team's performance is eagerly anticipated, given their impressive history in the championships. Germany holds the record for the most team and individual gold medals, with 7 team and 15 individual gold medals. Key riders to watch include Marcus Ehning, known for his consistent performance, and Sophie Hinners, who is making her European Championships debut in A Coruña.

Notable performances so far include Christian Kukuk, the individual Olympic champion, who delivered an excellent performance in the speed competition, going clear on Just Be Gentle. Marcus Ehning, a 50-year-old rider from Borken, also impressed with a fault-free round. Richard Vogel, a 28-year-old rider from Pfungstadt, achieved the best individual German result in the competition with a fault-free round on United Touch.

The British team is closely following the German team's progress, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition. The top 25 combinations from the previous three tests will qualify for the individual final, scheduled for Sunday.
