Children rescued from a supposedly horrific dwelling in Spain, identified as Germans - Spanish Authorities Rescue German Children From Alleged "Torture Home" in Spain

In an operation that left the lead investigator stark-raving, Spanish authorities seized three young children from their home in the outskirts of Oviedo, a town in the north of Spain. Javier Lozano, the operation leader, reported that his team found their home a veritable "house of horrors."

Weeks ago, a neighbor alerted the police to the family's peculiar situation. Since then, the home had been under observation, but the children hadn't left the house or sought medical attention. The long-awaited rescue operation took place on Monday.

The two eight-year-old twins and the ten-year-old boy were freed from a house filled with filth and debris. Their parents, a 53-year-old German man and a 48-year-old German-American woman, were promptly arrested by the authorities. The children, shockingly, had to sleep on metal cots and endured wearing diapers and face masks in isolation, tucked away from the world beyond their house's walls.

Upon their initial adventures outside, the children marveled at the fresh air and the sensation of grass beneath their feet for the first time. Though initial reasons for their isolation remain unclear, authorities suspect the parents feared the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pair now finds themselves in custody, pending legal action. The children, meanwhile, are safe under the guardianship of the Asturias regional government. Lozano, expressing his disbelief, shared "We've rescued three minors. I never thought something like this could happen in this country."
