Spahn and Reich experience significant losses, while Pistorius and Wüst maintain their lead

The latest RTL/ntv Trendbarometer for August 2025 has revealed some interesting shifts in the trust ratings of Germany's politicians. The survey, which aims to determine which politicians citizens see as having the country "in good hands," paints a diverse picture of public trust.

In the current ranking, Hendrik Wüst maintains his second place position with 53 trust points, consistent with his rankings in May and March. Friedrich Merz follows closely in sixth place with 38 points, a position he has held since May. The top spot, however, has been taken by Boris Pistorius with 61 trust points, down 1 from his last ranking in May.

Interestingly, Jens Spahn, who was previously in a respectable position, now trails Sahra Wagenknecht and Alice Weidel, who both have 16 points. Tino Chrupalla remains at the bottom of the ranking with 15 points.

The biggest loss in trust has been experienced by Jens Spahn, whose score is now 7 points worse than two months ago. Within his own Union party, Spahn has also experienced a significant loss in trust, with 12 points fewer compared to May. Katherina Reiche, another Union party member, has also seen a significant drop in trust, with only 9 points within her own party.

Despite the fluctuations in trust ratings, some politicians have managed to maintain their positions. Markus Söder, for instance, has improved by one rank compared to May, now sitting in fourth place with 39 points. Matthias Miersch is in ninth place with 34 trust points, while Lars Klingbeil is in eighth place with 37 points, having fallen from fifth to eighth place compared to May.

The forsa Politician Ranking does not include any politicians from the AfD party in the top ten, suggesting that the party's leadership remains at the bottom of the trust scale.
