Spaceballs 2 Teaser Reveals Important Character's Return
Going Full Throttle with Spaceballs 2:
Mel Brooks ain't messin' around with the Spaceballs sequel. Reminiscent of Yoda from Star Wars, his character Yogurt, in the original flick, is now seeing a revival in Brooks' hands. At an impressive 99 years of age, he's geared up to play Yogurt in the long-awaited sequel, set to hit theaters in 2027. And that's just the tip of the iceberg!
Amazon announced earlier this week that the man behind the 1987 comedy classic will be reprising his role for the sequel. This time, though, he'll just be acting, with Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar) directing from a script by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad. While Gad's role hasn't been officially confirmed, chances are, he'll be stealing the show too. Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis are also slated to return, with newcomer Keke Palmer joining the cast in an enigmatic role.
Fans have been itching for a Spaceballs sequel for years. The wait's been longer than a dog's life, but here we are! The original film joked about a sequel, Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money, but that was just a joke. Star Wars was thought to be history by then. Fast forward a decade, and the world's all about the Force once more. With the Special Editions, prequels, Disney buyouts, and a plethora of new shows and movies, Spaceballs is back in the spotlight.
But what's the scoop on the sequel? Amazon calls it a "Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film." Shrugs all around. Yet, the teaser hints at "The Schwartz Awakens," setting the stage for an homage to the sequel trilogy, mingling classic characters like Lone Star (Pullman) and Dark Helmet (Moranis) with fresh faces, such as Palmer and Gad. And of course, we know Yogurt is back too!
So, what's your take on Spaceballs 2? Gotta feeling it'll be the sequel we've been dreaming about? And does Brooks' involvement pump up the excitement level? Share your thoughts below!
