"Space Marine Installment of Warhammer 40,000 Receives Long-Awaited Refurbishment"

Get ready, space marines! THE return you've been waiting for is nearly here. That's right, the bloody epic Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, originally unleashed in 2011, is making its way to modern gaming consoles, sharpening its chainswords for a brand-new generation of brands of war.

SneakyBox, the stealthy port developer, is giving this third-person shooter a facelift with the Master Crafted Edition. Producer Vaidas Mikelskas promises a "nuanced revival… an open dialogue between past and present, protecting the essence of the original while polishing it up for the next generation of gamers." Graphics will get a refresh, and the UI and control scheme will receive a modern makeover. But that ain't all, as the Orks will receive a visual upgrade to align with their more current incarnations in the franchise's lore, accompanied by "over 100" fresh voice lines.

Originally cooked up by Relic Entertainment, the first Space Marine received mostly positive feedback upon its release. Two sequels were lined up, but they never materialized after THQ shuttered its doors. Sega swooped in two years later, scooping up Relic and re-issuing the game on PC in 2021. It wasn't long before Saber Interactive announced it would take the reigns on the sequel, which landed with strong reviews in 2024 and has its own successor in the pipeline.

As of now, the rights for the original Warhammer 40K: Space Marine are still with Sega, who hasn't announced plans for a PlayStation 5 version of the Master Crafted Edition just yet. So mark your calendars, prestige players! If you're itching to get a piece of the action, you'll have to grab it on PC, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox Game Pass – with the release set for June 10.
