"Sowunmi Issues a Caution to Atiku: Stay Truthful in 2027 Coalition Efforts"

In an uncompromising interview on Arise Television, Segun Sowunmi, a key figure within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and an alleged close ally of Atiku Abubakar, has lashed out at the former Vice President for his persistent quest to form a coalition to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent President Bola Tinubu.

The PDP chieftain has voiced his concern that Atiku's coalition endeavors may potentially dismantle the party from within.

"You were given the presidential ticket twice by the PDP. You were made vice president of the PDP twice. Come what may, whatever comes together, amalgamation or coalition that you're doing, it has to be done in the PDP," Sowunmi sternly reminded Atiku.

He cautioned that the proposed coalition could weaken the PDP's power in the upcoming elections, asserting that Atiku ought to fortify the party instead.

Alleging that the coalition being proposed might be a front for actors with hidden agendas, Sowunmi expressed doubt about the true intentions of the politicians who wish to join the prospective coalition.

"I do not agree that you are going to empty a big party into some small organisation when I have gone round, and I know that most of the people who are saying they want to be in that coalition don't even agree with you," Sowunmi emphasized.

He maintained his allegiance to Atiku but suggested that some would-be coalition members might be insincere in their support for the alliance. Sowunmi questioned whether Atiku himself was being deceived by their expressed loyalty.

Renewing his commitment to Atiku, Sowunmi declared, "I am your most loyal soldier. You don’t have another that as well as me. Do not deceive yourself."

He also questioned the rationale for Atiku spearheading the coalition, given his long-standing involvement in the PDP. "Shall a leader desert his house just because there's a crisis there, especially one that has favored him one too many?" Sowunmi inquired.

In light of internal struggles within the PDP, Sowunmi argued that Atiku should focus his efforts on mending the party rather than seeking alliances outside it.
