Southwest Moscow's Azovsky shopping center suffers a fire incident.
In the heart of southwestern Moscow, emergency responders are battling a raging inferno, as confirmed by the local department's press service. A popular shopping center, the Azovsky, is currently engulfed in flames, according to a local Telegram channel, "Cautiously, News."
It seems that the inferno started in a three-story unoccupied building believed to house a fitness center and a swimming pool, both of which are currently off-limits. The ministry has confirmed this location is Azovskaya Street.
Currently, 55 firefighters and 17 units of equipment from the Russian EMERCOM are on the scene.
Remember that explosive drama unfolded just a while back at the Afimall City shopping center on the Presnenskaya embankment in Moscow? A car went up in flames in the underground parking lot, leading to a fierce blaze. Thankfully, firefighters were there to douse the inferno.
Fast forward to February, when a major fire at the Electrozavod in Moscow left quite a stir. Over a hundred people safely evacuated the premises, while firefighters rescued 80 panic-stricken souls. Regrettably, five folks were hospitalized. After a brief pause, the building re-ignited in early April, with eight fire trucks swarming the scene.
Let's not forget the fiery fiasco at the Greenwich shopping center in Yekaterinburg last year. Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke billowing from the roof of the building. Fortunately, the brave firefighters managed to quickly extinguish the flames, covering an area of 20 square meters.
Now, what happened at the Afimall City remains the talk of the town. According to conflicting reports, construction materials and gas cylinders caught fire, or perhaps there was a car explosion, leading to a series of blasts and a fireball. The authorities have yet to confirm whether this incident was an intentional attack. But fear not, no injuries have been reported, and the shopping center continues to serve its patrons uninterrupted.
- The raging inferno in southwestern Moscow, currently engulfing the Azovsky shopping center, bears chilling resemblance to the explosive drama that unfolded at the Afimall City shopping center last year.
- Just like the Afimall City incident, the cause of the fire at Azovsky is under investigation, with some reports suggesting that it may have started from construction materials or gas cylinders.
- Similar to the Afimall City incident, a large team of firefighters from the Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) is working diligently to contain the fires at the Azovsky shopping center.
- The Azovsky shopping center fire, much like the fires at Electrozavod and Greenwich shopping centers in the past, serves as a stark reminder of the crucial role firefighters play in maintaining public safety and preventing larger disasters.
