The Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim is set to commence its 2023/24 subscription season with an enchanting Mozart-themed concert. Scheduled for Sunday, October 8, at 7 pm in the Great Hall of the Pforzheim CongressCentrum, the opening concert promises a captivating evening of classical music.
Tickets for the event can be purchased through the chamber orchestra's online shop and at all Reservix advance booking points, including the ticket office in the Pforzheim Tower Quarter. Prices range from 30 to 59 euros (plus advance booking fee). Notably, students, interns, volunteers, and holders of the Goldstadt pass are eligible for a 50% discount on all prices upon presentation of a valid ID.
The concert program includes works that are majestic, brilliant, deeply intimate, and surprisingly quirky. The evening will open with Mozart's Symphony No. 29 in A major, K. 201, followed by the Violin Concerto No. 4 in D major, K. 218. The highlight of the concert will be the performance of the "Coronation" concerto in D major by Mozart, one of the most "extroverted" of Mozart's piano concertos, as described by renowned pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy. For this performance, Portuguese pianist Vasco Dantas will take centre stage.
The chamber orchestra will also perform the Divertimento KV 318 as its calling card. The concert will close with one of Mozart's "great" late symphonies, the Es major Symphony No. 39.
The concert will be conducted by Christoph Koncz, with Douglas Bostock, the chief conductor, introducing the concert at 6 pm. The box office will open at 5:45 pm. Admission to the foyer of the middle hall at 6 pm is free.
Attendees can expect to be moved by Mozart's delicacy and touching melodies, as well as his extroverted nature, making for an unforgettable musical experience. Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Mozart!
