"Southwest German Chamber Orchestra begins its season with a performance dedicated to Mozart"
The Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim is set to kick off its 2023/24 subscription season with a grand concert featuring works by the legendary composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The event will take place on Sunday, October 8, at 7 pm in the Grand Hall of the Pforzheim CongressCentrum.
The programme for the opening concert is a delightful mix of the majestic, brilliant, deeply intimate, and surprisingly quirky pieces from Mozart's repertoire. While the exact concert programme details may vary, the chamber orchestra typically includes some of Mozart's well-known chamber and orchestral pieces.
One of the highlights of the concert will be the performance of Mozart's "Coronation" concerto, played by the talented Vasco Dantas. This concerto, with its delicacy and touching melodies, is sure to be a crowd favourite. Notably, renowned conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy has described the "Coronation" concerto as one of the most "extroverted" of Mozart's piano concertos.
In addition to the "Coronation" concerto, the chamber orchestra will also perform its calling card, the Divertimento KV 318. This piece, known for its charm and elegance, promises to be a delightful addition to the concert.
The thematic framework for the subscription concerts will be provided by the works of Mozart. Douglas Bostock, the chief conductor, will introduce the concert at 6 pm, setting the stage for an enchanting evening of music.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased in advance for 30 to 59 euros (plus advance booking fee) through the chamber orchestra's online shop and at all Reservix advance booking points. Admission to the foyer of the middle hall prior to the concert is free.
For students, students, volunteers, and holders of the Goldstadt pass, a 50% discount on all prices will be offered upon presentation of a valid ID.
