Southampton's pursuit of Krasnodar midfielder Eduard Spertsyan remains in a critical stage, with the latest updates indicating a decision hinges on Krasnodar owner Sergey Galitsky's decision and direct negotiations between the player and the club owner.

Spertsyan, a 24-year-old Armenian midfielder, has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Southampton, but his transfer to the English club is uncertain. The player's agent confirmed that Southampton is an ideal destination for Spertsyan, but the final outcome depends on Krasnodar's willingness to release him.

There are conflicting reports about Spertsyan's intentions. While some sources suggest he is waiting for other European offers, Southampton has improved their offer to around €18 million plus bonuses. Krasnodar was reportedly ready to consider Southampton’s offer, but Spertsyan's desire to hold out for other options seems decisive at this point.

Contract negotiations are reportedly advanced, but official confirmation of a completed deal is still pending. The situation remains fluid and could change within the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, the Russian Cup matches are set to involve teams "Amkal", Broke Boys, Medialiga, and "Kosmos". Arshavin has declined to play for "Amkal" in the Russian Cup, according to Karpov. Broke Boys have signed Fedor Smolov for their participation in the Russian Cup.

Southampton manager Will Still shared the club's strategy for the remaining days of the transfer window, with the team aiming to sign several new players. If Southampton returns to the Premier League, Spertsyan's annual salary could increase significantly.
