South Ural's Kozuchov family to participate in the National GTO Festival
The VI All-Russian Festival of GTO among family teams is set to take place from August 16 to 19 in Cheboksary, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event, organized by the Ministry of Sports of Russia and the federal sports event management, is a celebration of physical fitness in families, connected to the GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) program.
The festival is a competitive event where family teams from various parts of the country will participate. A total of 250 participants are expected, with 55 teams taking part, including the Khozuhov family from Chelyabinsk Oblast. The Khozuhov family qualified for the festival by winning the regional stage of the competition.
Despite their experience in such competitions, the Khozuhov family has yet to place among the winners in any previous competitions. Each team consists of four family members: two parents, a son (or daughter), and a grandmother (or grandfather). Over the course of four days, all teams will demonstrate their physical prowess while working together as a team.
The exact GTO tests for this year's festival are not detailed in the search results, but traditionally include running, pull-ups or push-ups, long jump, abdominal exercises, throws, swimming, cross-country skiing, and rope climbing. These exercises combine to create a comprehensive fitness assessment that family teams complete competitively during the festival.
While the 2025 festival’s exact GTO test lineup and event schedule are not specified, the festival is known for enhancing family participation in sport, promoting health across generations, and honoring the historical significance of wartime victory by fostering community strength and spirit through physical challenges. The Khozuhov family, representing Chelyabinsk Oblast, will be defending the honor of their region at the festival.
