A statement released by the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi, confirmed the tragic news. The statement stated that the deceased, who was the Speaker's first wife's mother, was laid to rest at the Tukur-Tukur cemetery in Zaria after Jumma'at prayers on Friday.

He extended his condolences and prayed to Allah (SWT) to grant eternal peace to Hajiya Rahmatu Bello Mukaddas and welcome her into Jannatul Firdaus, the paradise of virgins.
In an emotional statement, Speaker Abbas expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of Hajiya Rahmatu, stating, "She was more than a mother-in-law to me. She lived a virtuous life worthy of emulation, not only was she a peacemaker, she was also a symbol of unity. She leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, tolerance, and love."
