Our sources report that Speaker Abbas Tajudeen has faced a personal loss with the demise of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Rahmatu Bello Mukaddas. She passed away last Thursday at the age of 85.

A statement released by the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi, confirmed the tragic news. The statement stated that the deceased, who was the Speaker's first wife's mother, was laid to rest at the Tukur-Tukur cemetery in Zaria after Jumma'at prayers on Friday.

Chief Whip of the House, Usman Bello Kumo, Minority Whip, Hon. Ali Isa, and various district heads from the Zazzau Emirate, clerics, and many others joined Speaker Abbas to pay their respects at the burial.

Speaker Abbas described the late Hajiya Rahmatu as a woman of exceptional virtue, a mother to all, who spent her life elevating others. He extended his condolences and prayed to Allah (SWT) to grant eternal peace to Hajiya Rahmatu Bello Mukaddas and welcome her into Jannatul Firdaus, the paradise of virgins.

In an emotional statement, Speaker Abbas expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of Hajiya Rahmatu, stating, "She was more than a mother-in-law to me. She lived a virtuous life worthy of emulation, not only was she a peacemaker, she was also a symbol of unity. She leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, tolerance, and love."
