Born in Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria in 1995, Sophia Thiel grappled with weight issues in her youth. After losing over 25 kilograms in three years by taking up bodybuilding in 2012, her life took a dramatic turn. She began her YouTube journey in October 2014, and her following skyrocketed, making Thiel one of the first German fitness influencers.

A Star in Decline

Thiel's journey was marked by success: over 900,000 subscribers, more than 190 million video views, collaborations, brand endorsements, a fragrance line, a fashion collection, books, and guides. But behind the façade of accomplishments and fame, she battled an eating disorder and struggled with public pressure. Thiel recounted, "I thought I had to diet every day, that's just the price I pay for recognition, respect, and success."

The Tug of War with Bulimia

In 2015, when she won her first bodybuilding competitions, Thiel began experiencing secret binge eating episodes. "My body fat percentage was very low, which was due to my diets that consisted mainly of protein and carbohydrates," she disclosed. In 2019, overwhelmed by pressure and her disorder, she took a two-yearbreak from social media, seeking refuge in Los Angeles to find herself.

Embracing Authenticity

Since her return in 2021, Thiel no longer peddles perfection. Instead, she champions body positivity and mental health. After years of therapy, she realized her self-worth isn't defined by her physique, as she stated. Despite facing setbacks, such as during her participation in "Let's Dance" in 2024, she continues to prioritize self-care and recovery.

Love in the City of Angels

Currently, Thiel is in a loving relationship and reveling in what she calls "the best time of my life." Reflecting on her challenging past, she penned, "I remember vividly how empty and lost I felt walking these streets alone, weak and afraid of the future. Too burned out to enjoy the beautiful things here." But today, she cherishes her self-discovery and growth.

In 2025, turning 31, Thiel aims to continue her journey without external pressures, focusing on finding her center and nurturing her mind and body.
