Rockin' for Navalny: Pet Shop Boys and Friends Rally for a Free Russia

Song Dedication by Pet Shop Boys to Alexei Navalny

Get ready to groove for a cause! The legendary Pet Shop Boys, along with other talented Russian artists including Aigel, Grechka, and classical musicians, are set to perform at the "This is Navalny" memorial event in Berlin. This concert is a tribute to the late opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, who bravely fought corruption and authoritarianism in Russia before his untimely death in a Siberian labor camp in 2024.

The Pet Shop Boys paid homage to Navalny with their brand-new single, "Hymn (In memoriam Alexei Navalny)," following in February. This powerful track features excerpts from Navalny's prison letters and his book "Patriot." As the band announced on Instagram, their mission is to uphold Navalny's vision of a Russia that is "free from corruption and Putin's authoritarianism, a prosperous, democratic country at peace with its neighbors." In essence, they're keeping his flame of hope and change alive.

Navalny himself vehemently opposed Putin's invasion of Ukraine, labeling it as "immoral, fratricidal, and criminal."

As headliners at the Berlin event, the Pet Shop Boys will captivate audiences with a 40-minute live set. Other performers such as Grechka and AIGEL will also take the stage, weaving their unique talents into an unforgettable musical atmosphere.

Beyond the concert, the event offers plenty more to engage attendees. You'll have the opportunity to attend a live conversation with Navalny's widow, Yulia Navalnaya, a human rights activist, watch the Oscar-winning documentary "Navalny," and get a signed copy of related books. The aim? To bring together individuals who are committed to the quest for freedom and democracy in Russia.

Proceeds from the event will support the "You Are Not Alone Foundation," which provides assistance to Russian political prisoners and their families.

The "This is Navalny" memorial event will rock the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin on June 28, 2025. Get your tickets now and join the movement for a brighter future for Russia!
