Son Heung-min, renowned South Korean soccer player, will depart from Tottenham Hotspur team.

Son Heung-min, a South Korean soccer star and one of the most high-profile athletes in his home country, has announced that he will be leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The 33-year-old, who joined the Premier League club as a 23-year-old, will depart as a grown man, a very proud man, according to his own words.

In a heartfelt statement made in Seoul before a preseason friendly game against Newcastle United, Son hailed himself as a "true Spurs legend" and "one of the greatest players to play in the Premier League." He expressed his gratitude to the club, fans, and teammates for the memories created over the past decade.

Son Heung-min spent 10 years with Tottenham Hotspur, during which he became a key player and a vital part of the team. He was joint top scorer in the Premier League during the 2021-22 season with 23 goals. In total, he scored 173 goals in 454 matches for the club.

One of Son's most memorable moments with Tottenham was lifting the Europa League trophy in May 2023 after the club beat Manchester United. He also formed a formidable strike partnership with Harry Kane during his time at the club.

Despite his deep affection for Tottenham Hotspur, Son felt the need for a change. He stated that he needs a little bit of change after spending 10 years with the club. The decision to leave was the most difficult one he has made in his career, he said.

Son is considering a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. Negotiations with Los Angeles FC (LAFC) have advanced significantly, and the deal is widely anticipated to be completed soon this summer, possibly by the end of August 2025.

Tottenham Hotspur, reportedly open to letting Son leave, may still consider a one-year contract extension, but Son has decided to move on. The club will miss his skill, dedication, and the impact he had on and off the pitch.

As Son Heung-min prepares to embark on a new chapter in his career, he leaves Tottenham Hotspur as a true legend, a player who will always be remembered for his contributions to the club. His departure marks the end of an era, but also the beginning of a new one, as the club looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
