Solemn, secure, and smooth-flowing march to commemorate 80th National Anniversary

On the morning of September 2, 2025, the grand parade and march marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day will take place at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi. The event is designed to inspire patriotism, national pride, and revolutionary ideals.

The parade will commence at 6:30 AM with a traditional torch procession, followed by a flag-raising ceremony at 6:45 AM. This will be followed by a ceremony announcement and delegate introductions at 6:50 AM. Speeches by Party and State leaders are scheduled for 7:05 AM.

At 7:45 AM, the parade and march program will begin. The parade route will include key streets in central Hanoi, covering Hung Vuong, Tran Phu, Kim Ma, and other streets, finishing at Quan Ngua Sports Complex or Cach Mang Thang 8 Square.

Large-scale artistic performances will take place between 9:45 and 10:00 AM. The parade will feature compact but modern formations that reflect professionalism and unity, as well as the peace-loving spirit of the Vietnamese people.

Approximately 30,000 participants will be involved, not including parade and marching forces. The parade will include 43 marching contingents representing armed forces, including 26 military units and 17 public security units, as well as invited military delegations from China, Russia, Laos, and Cambodia (with Laos and Cambodia confirmed so far).

The parade will showcase modern Vietnamese-made weapons and military technologies such as tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, missile systems, UAVs, radar, and electronic warfare equipment. The naval parade will also be held simultaneously in Cam Ranh Bay, Khánh Hòa Province, and broadcast live to Ba Đình Square.

Preparations for the event began in early 2024, with rehearsals conducted in late August 2025 to ensure a solemn, safe, and efficient event. The main venue, Ba Dinh Square, holds historic significance as the site where the Declaration of Independence was read in 1945.

Cultural exchange events will be held at Quần Ngựa Sports Palace and August Revolution Square in front of the Hà Nội Opera House. The event is being coordinated by the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hà Nội People's Committee, and other relevant agencies and units.

A dedicated task force, led by a deputy minister and involving local police units nationwide, has been established to ensure absolute safety and prevent any incidents during the celebration. The parade is a tribute to past generations who fought for national independence, freedom, and unification.

The parade reflects the nation's aspiration for prosperity and happiness in line with the goals set out in the 13th National Party Congress. Four joint drills and two full-scale rehearsals have been held, with the most recent on August 5. All formations have shown strong performance and readiness in terms of morale, technical preparation, and physical condition.

The event aims to reaffirm the historic significance and lasting legacy of the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Việt Nam, now the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam. Rehearsals for the event began in early May 2025 under the direction of both the defence and public security ministries. A preliminary state-level review is scheduled for August 27, and a final state-level review is set for 6.30am on August 30. The official parade is scheduled for 6.30am on September 2 at Ba Đình Square.
