Soldiers Perish in Gaza due to Explosion

In a heartbreaking turn of events, four Israeli soldiers were killed in an explosive device attack in the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip. Among the fallen were Lieutenant Eitan Avner Ben Itzhak, Major Omri Chai Ben Moshe, Lieutenant Eran Shelem, and Lieutenant Ron Arieli, a cadet from the "Dekel" Battalion, Officers' Training School.

Lieutenant Eitan Avner Ben Itzhak, aged 22, was a resident of Har Brakha. Known for his devotion to Torah scholarship, settling the land, and his role as a frontline fighter, Ben Itzhak's loss is deeply felt within the community. Eitan Avner Ben Itzhak's nine-month-old son, Lior, was present near his father's fresh grave.

The incident occurred during a routine activity on the Philadelphi Route. The IDF is currently investigating a suspicion that a Hamas sniper may have fired at the soldiers before detonating the improvised explosive device (IED). The shooter suspected of the attack is not publicly identified at this time.

Two other cadets were injured in the incident. One of them, a resident of Har Brakha named Atara, recently got married. The cadet's family has been notified of his injury, and he was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. Major Omri Chai Ben Moshe, aged 26, from Tzafria, was another casualty of the attack.

The Har Brakha community expresses its deepest condolences to Atara and the Steinbach family, who lost a loved one in this tragic event. The community intends to support the Ben-Yitzhak and Steinbach families during this difficult time.

The Steinbach family is a longstanding and rooted family in the Har Brakha community. Eitan Avner Ben Itzhak was a relative of Samaria Governor Yossi Dagan.

Despite the loss of 910 soldiers since October 7th, 2023, the IDF remains determined to continue operations. The IDF honours the sacrifices made by these brave soldiers and stands united in their memory.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these fallen heroes and to the injured cadet. May they find strength and comfort during this challenging time.
