A couple of months post the Gaza war commencement, Bavaria's Minister President, Markus Söder (CSU), aims to pay a visit to a kibbutz situated in a closely-guarded military zone near the Gaza Strip on Thursday. The State Chancellery was unwilling to reveal the kibbutz's name due to the unstable security situation in the country.

The first stop on Söder's agenda is Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. In the afternoon, he plans to engage in political talks with President Izchak Herzog. Upon arriving at the kibbutz, Söder will hand over a donation to support an initiative aimed at aiding young individuals traumatized by the Hamas terror attacks in the border region.

Back in November, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited a different kibbutz that had suffered severe damage as a consequence of Hamas attacks. The series of attacks that occurred on October 7 led to the Gaza conflict. Overall, more than 1,200 people lost their lives in the unprecedented border attacks, and more than 49,200 were injured.

During Söder's visit, he will meet with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen on Wednesday evening, joined by Ambassador Steffen Seibert and a small delegation. He is scheduled to return to Bavaria on Friday.
