Society-building children with strong Law and Order qualities, according to the President's description.
In a significant move towards shaping the future of Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced the implementation of a unified educational program called "Adal Azamat" ("Honest Citizen") in all general education institutions across the country. This nationwide initiative, starting from the 2025 school year, is designed to foster patriotism, responsibility, work ethic, national values, and morality among the younger generation.
The key objectives and features of the "Adal Azamat" program include:
- Promoting national values and morality: The program emphasizes patriotism, respect for the law, and ethical behavior to instill a sense of civic duty and integrity in students.
- Comprehensive upbringing and education system: It aims to build an effective, systematic education and upbringing framework that integrates moral and national values as part of the core teaching goals.
- Anti-bullying and child safety focus: The program incorporates anti-bullying measures, psychological support, and strict penalties against violence toward minors to protect children from social harms.
- Interactive preventive classes: Organized with the Ministry of Internal Affairs' collaboration, students receive lessons on safety rules including road safety and legal awareness as part of the upbringing program.
- Parent and community involvement: Transformation of parent committees under the program improves interaction between families and educational organizations, fostering community support for children’s moral development.
- Extension to teacher training: Plans exist to introduce "Adal Azamat" into teacher education programs to ensure educators themselves embody and convey these national values effectively.
- Digital literacy and AI inclusion: Alongside moral education, the program includes early instruction in artificial intelligence and other technologies for both students and teachers to support modern skills development.
The "Adal Azamat" program is part of a broader reform enhancing Kazakhstan’s education system, focusing on quality, safety, vocational orientation, and a meritocratic, value-based approach to education. The ultimate goal is to create responsible, honest citizens committed to the nation.
President Tokayev emphasized the importance of not only instilling in the younger generation a desire for knowledge but also guiding them and providing them with the right moral compass. He proposed extending the "Adal Azamat" project to universities that train educators.
In his address at the August Conference in Astana, President Tokayev reiterated that only truly responsible citizens, who have cultivated noble qualities, will be the pillar of a Just Kazakhstan. The "Adal Azamat" program, with its focus on national pride, ethical behavior, discipline, and social responsibility, is a significant step towards this vision.
