Sochi's Stantsiya Collective Unveils Avenue of Life in a Bold Evolution of Art

The Avenue of Life exhibition is now open at the Sochi Art Museum. Running until February 22, the show marks a new phase for the Stantsiya collective, which has shifted from playful urban interventions to deeper reflections on human existence. Over 30 artists have contributed to the display.

The Stantsiya group first formed in Sochi back in February 2012. Founded by artists like Kirill Kuzmin and Oleg Yatsenko, it began with experimental, site-specific works that mixed social commentary with absurdity. These early projects often unfolded in public spaces, engaging directly with the city and its people.

Over time, the collective's focus has broadened. While still rooted in bold experimentation, their latest exhibition explores life's journey from birth to death. Avenue of Life blends multimedia installations, paintings, and sculptures into a cohesive narrative. The show also serves as a metaphor for the artists' own creative evolution—one of constant self-expression and the search for new forms.

The collective now includes both established professionals and rising talents. Their collaboration has produced a diverse yet unified body of work, inviting visitors to reflect on existence through layered, introspective pieces.

The exhibition remains accessible until February 22, offering a rare chance to experience Stantsiya's artistic growth firsthand. Through multimedia and narrative depth, the show traces both individual lives and the collective's own development. Entry is open to all at the Sochi Art Museum.
