Sochi Unveils New Chemitokvadzhe River Bridge, Enhancing Safety and Efficiency on A-147 Highway
Sochi has completed a major overhaul of the Chemitokvadzhe River crossing on federal highway A-147 Dzhubga–Sochi, bringing breaking news to locals and travelers alike. The project involved replacing the old bridge with a new four-span structure and significant improvements to safety and efficiency. The new bridge, located near the village of Zubova Shchel at the 125th kilometer of the highway, features modern energy-efficient lighting and reinforced barrier fencing for enhanced safety. It also includes a state-of-the-art stormwater drainage system and two wastewater treatment sections to protect the river's ecosystem. During construction, locals were rerouted along an alternative detour. Road crews conducted large-scale slope stabilization work on this recently repaired section of road, located 400 meters to the north, including the construction of three retaining walls, one of which stands directly in the riverbed. The completion of the Chemitokvadzhe River bridge overhaul marks a significant improvement to safety and efficiency on the A-147 highway in Sochi, bringing news of progress to the region. The new bridge and detour are now open to traffic, benefiting both locals and travelers.
