Sochi Resort Postpones Trail Opening Due to Heat

The Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort near Krasnaya Polyana has delayed the start of its ski season until December 29. The decision comes after unusually warm temperatures and a lack of snowfall disrupted preparations. Guests who had booked passes for the original opening dates will now receive refund details by email.

The resort had planned to open earlier in December but faced setbacks due to unseasonably mild weather. With snowmaking systems unable to operate at full capacity, officials confirmed the slopes would remain closed until December 29. Despite the delay, hotels, cable cars, and other infrastructure will stay open for visitors.

Guests affected by the postponement will be contacted directly with instructions on how to claim refunds. Meanwhile, the resort is offering alternative activities, including ice skating, the Alpine Coaster, and access to spa zones. A special holiday programme will run from December 30 to January 11, featuring events such as New Year’s Eve celebrations and meet-and-greets with Ded Moroz. The resort aims to ensure visitors still have an enjoyable winter experience despite the delayed ski season.

The ski season at Rosa Khutor will now begin on December 29, weather permitting. Refunds for affected bookings are being processed, and the resort continues to provide other attractions for guests. The holiday programme will proceed as planned, offering entertainment throughout the festive period.
