Sochi battles heavy snow and ice with citywide clean-up efforts

Sochi’s municipal teams are working to clear snow and ice after heavy winter weather hit the region. Roads, sidewalks, and trees have been treated to prevent accidents and keep the city running smoothly. Authorities have also issued warnings to drivers about parking near trees during the clean-up.

In Lazarevsky District, crews are spreading anti-icing agents on major roads to stop black ice forming. Sidewalks near key buildings—like schools No. 95 and No. 98, clinics, and the district administration office—are being dug out by workers from Vodokanal Sochi. The municipal company confirmed on January 14, 2026, that these areas are a priority.

Meanwhile, in the Central District, specialists have already finished removing snow and ice from tree branches along several streets. Despite the weather, all city services remain fully operational. Drivers have been urged to avoid parking under trees, where falling snow or ice could cause damage to vehicles.

The clean-up effort covers roads, pedestrian paths, and trees across Sochi. Essential routes to schools, hospitals, and government offices are being cleared first. Officials continue to monitor conditions as work progresses.
