New Gig for Football Legend Mats Hummels as TV Analyst for Amazon Prime's Champions League Coverage
soccer defender Mats Hummels to serve as TV analyst for upcoming season
Say goodbye to Mats Hummels' days on the pitch, because he's swapping cleats for commentary! The 2014 World Cup winner won't be returning to Borussia Dortmund any time soon – instead, he'll be joining the Amazon Prime Video team as a TV expert, covering Champions League matches.
That's right, folks; Hummels is getting ready to share his football wisdom with the world through the lens of the camera. When asked about his upcoming role, Hummels replied with a gleaming grin, "I can't wait to dive into discussing and analyzing football games – it's going to be bloody brilliant!"
Hummels will be joining the existing roster of experts on Amazon's coverage line-up, which includes Matthias Sammer, Christoph Kramer, Tabea Kemme, and Josephine Henning. Oh boy, prepare for some mind-blowing commentary sesh!
This move comes after Hummels hung up his boots for good – but his career was nothing short of legendary. With five German championships and three DFB-Pokal titles under his belt, dozens of international appearances, and the prestigious World Cup title in 2014, Hummels clearly has the credentials to discuss football with authority.
As for the changes on Amazon's team, Jonas Friedrich, a previous commentator, will take over the reins as the main moderator for the Champions League broadcasts. You might remember Alex Schlüter, who was previously the moderator, but he's moved on to greener pastures at ARD.
Now, guess who's hunting for a new commentator to join the team? That would be Amazon Prime Video, in case you were wondering!
