Chelsea Football Club has announced a long-term partnership with sportswear giant Nike, marking a significant shift in the club's commercial landscape. This deal, reported to be worth approximately 60 million pounds ($74.61 million) per season, is considered the largest commercial agreement in Chelsea's history.

The current kit producers, Adidas, and Chelsea have reached a mutual agreement to end their deal on June 30, 2017. From next year, Nike will take over the production of strips for Chelsea's first team, academy, and ladies teams. In addition, Nike will create a full range of clothing for Chelsea's global supporters.

Chelsea's director, Marina Granovskaia, expressed her excitement and importance of the deal, stating that it will support the club's growth into new markets and help them maintain their status among the world's elite football clubs.

The deal comes at a time when Chelsea is seventh in the standings after seven games in the current season. A poor run of form last season prevented Chelsea from qualifying for European football. However, the club won the Premier League title in the 2014-15 season under the guidance of manager José Mourinho.

Roman Abramovich, the Russian billionaire who owns Chelsea, has overseen a period of significant success for the club since his purchase in 2003. The new partnership with Nike is set to further bolster the club's commercial prowess.

It is worth noting that Adidas agreed to pay 750 million pounds ($1.1 billion) to become Manchester United's sponsor for a decade in 2014. The exact terms of the new main sponsor of Chelsea Football Club have not been disclosed at this time.

Chelsea believes that the partnership with Nike will help them continue to compete at the highest level and reach new heights in the future.
